EY acquires Cova to become EY Cova from 1 December 2021

EY Cova

Cova Advisory and Associates (Pty) Ltd has been acquired by one of the world’s largest professional services firms, EY, effective 1 December 2021. Cova Advisory will operate as EY Cova. The company said that clients will now have access to an even broader set of professional advisory expertise from the wider EY network, across Africa and globally. “EY Cova shall continue to offer the unique high-quality service that clients have become accustomed to in the areas of government grants and tax incentives; customs and excise; and energy, carbon and sustainability,” the company said.

EY Cova offers comprehensive services on grants and tax incentives by the South African government in the automotive sector. This includes the assessment of projects to determine the best support scheme(s) available with full assistance with regards to the preparation of applications, liaison with government agencies, vital follow-up to ensure all the criteria for sustained support are met, as well as the preparation and submission of claims.

EY Cova plays an integral role in facilitating inward and outward investment by providing customs and excise advisory services to companies operating in the automotive sector. Our aim is to assist companies with navigating their way through the process of identifying and entering new markets as well as mitigating customs and excise risks and ensuring compliance as well as providing APDP2 advisory and training.

EY Cova is ideally placed to help companies to understand the challenges of ‘going green’ and to reap the rewards of making that transition. The services offered include measurement and verification services for the Section 12L Tax Allowance Incentives, energy audits, drafting of energy management plans, carbon related services including carbon emissions reporting, carbon policy assistance, carbon tax advisory which includes carbon tax calculations, carbon tax registration with government, carbon offset advisory, and carbon tax renewals. In addition, EY Cova and EY offers clients services spanning (but not limited to) expatriate tax advisory, global tax compliance, APDP2 audits and transaction advisory services. EY Cova is a SANAS accredited energy and verification inspection authority in South Africa and is an accredited customs trainer with the South African Institute of Taxation (SAIT). EY Cova is an associate member of NAACAM and NAAMSA.
