Hundreds of food hampers, sponsored by G.U.D. Holdings, are helping feed those in need around Durban. Beneficiaries include the Ekhanana Old Age Home in Umlazi, Ezibambeleni Old Age Home in Kwadabeka, Umbrella Feeding Scheme in Wentworth, Golden Steps School in Verulam, Operation Bobbi Bear in Doonside and Browns School in Pinetown.
Lyn de Klerk, Fundraiser at Browns School, said: “Thanks G.U.D. Holdings, for donating hampers of staple food items for our indigent families. Your generosity is greatly appreciated, especially in these unprecedented times.”
In another initiative, G.U.D. has prioritised their involvement in contributing to South Africa’s basic education sector. The company said it is committed to supporting Golden Steps School for the intellectually challenged, to restore and re-build after many of its resources were destroyed and stolen during the unrest in KwaZulu-Natal in July 2021. To date, G.U.D. Holdings have repaired the school bus, which was deemed un-roadworthy and has donated food hampers to support the school’s feeding scheme. G.U.D. Holdings is working with the school in other areas to provide support in their efforts to educate over 220 pupils from disadvantaged backgrounds.
