Since the launch in 2020 of the 218 premium Securi-Lid, which was originally tailored for vehicles with styling trim, the product range has been expanded with the introduction of the 218 Securi-Lid for vehicles without the style trim.
This has given the company the confidence to expand its plant and equipment, resulting in substantial market growth in both export and local markets.
By September 2021 the new factory expansion will have been completed, doubling the production and storage capacity. In addition, the fleet of specialised CNC machines has been extended, adding to the current expansion programme.
The R&D department has been hard at work with new developments, which will further expand the product offering where the company will continue fulfilling customers’ needs.
“It is with excitement that we announce our expansion to our factory floor and the additional and newly installed state-of-the-art Elumatec CNC (Computer Numerical Control) machine from Germany which won the 2018 German Design Award,” explained Securi-Lid MD Scott Woods.
“This machine, of which we are the only company in South Africa to possess three, raises the level of manufacturing techniques at our factory in Port Elizabeth to meet product
prerequisites to the standard of global OEMs. This will increase our ever growing productivity and German engineering excellence to our valued customers.”
Nikki Hornigold, Securi-Lid Director, noted, “This proves that during hard economic times Securi-Lid continues to grow and we are proud of this accomplishment.”
Expansion of the 218 Securi-Lid Range
When the company first introduced the 218 range, it was limited to vehicles with style trim only. Securi-Lid is now offering the 218 for vehicles without trim, such as Nissan Navara, Ford T6, VW Amarok, Isuzu and Mazda. “The features remain ever impressive throughout the 218 range, such as side locking and the mid-stop position for vehicles with lockable tailgates,” explained Mr Woods.
The integrated side-channel, which is standard with the 216 and 218 products, means that accessories, such as roll bars and carry racks, can be mounted on top of the lid. This gives flexibility to apply what suits customers’ lifestyle.
“The style bar for the 218 has seen an upgrade as well, with a unique integrated mounting system providing the most stylish solution to meet style bar needs. Some of the OEM bars are able to be modified and refitted with a bracket kit.”
“One of our objectives is to have a no-drill fitment whilst maintaining the strength and durability of the product and not affect the vehicle’s structural integrity. We believe we have achieved this with the 218, and have met the requirements of the motor manufacturers, leading to approvals with several leading manufacturers,” Mr Woods added.
“A three year warranty comes standard with the 218, meaning that we not only cover product but its longevity as well,” concluded Mr Woods.
