Ramsay Engineering (Pty) Ltd is a volume manufacturer of metal, plastic and leatherette automotive components from its facilities in Pietermaritzburg. The firm’s core competencies involve the stamping, welding, coating and assembly of steel components, injection moulding, leatherette trim as well as the assembly of a variety of specialised functional assemblies. Ramsay deploys a wide range of technologies and manufacturing processes including tandem and progression tool stamping, robotic MIG and resistance welding and polymer injection moulding.
Ramsay’s coating capabilities include electro-plating, e-coating, powder coating and wet spray painting. Machine capacities for pressed parts include 160 t, 400 t and 600 t coil fed mechanical presses and an 800 t coil fed servo press capable of up to 9 mm thick steel coil. In 2024 we will introduce two additional presses to our line up – a 1 200 t transfer press and additional large bed 400 t coil fed line. The firm has a large toolroom responsible for the manufacture and maintenance of tooling as well as machine building and automation.
