The South African Automotive Masterplan aims to double employment in the sector by 2035. To this end, NAACAM, in partnership with Youth Employment Service (YES) team, hosted an exclusive YES information session for NAACAM members on the 1st of December 2021.
The session provided NAACAM members with an opportunity to learn more about the YES programme requirements, benefits, and package options.
NAACAM members’ engagement with the YES team during the Q&A session highlighted the industry’s need to better understand the various options available to participate in the YES initiative. An option discussed that is unknown to many members is the YES implementation partner model, which allows young people to be placed in an accredited third-party organisation, allowing maximum recognition for B-BBEE purposes. This means that should a company not be able to host youth, the company can partner with an implementation partner.
The YES team and NAACAM are aware that this might be the most practical and suitable option for members interested in participating in YES, but do not currently have the capacity to integrate youth into their organisation.
