NAACAM Commercial Director, Shivani Singh, has delivered a Localisation and Transformation Masterclass to the manufacturing team from Invest South Africa. The purpose of the session was to share key learnings and observations from NAACAM’s work in this topic area, and explain the nuances associated with capacitating South African component suppliers to actively tackle barriers to unlocking new localisation opportunities.
The Masterclass included practical examples of localisation support and profiled some innovative solutions deployed by the NAACAM team in recent months to support elevating the capabilities of Black-owned suppliers in the sector.
NAACAM Project Manager, Hlengiwe Mkhize, shared her workplan of key localisation research priorities and outlined opportunities for collaboration with Invest South Africa. The session included constructive discussions about earmarked opportunities for collaboration between the organisations to support the SAAM 2035 objectives of increasing local content; growing the participation of Black-owned suppliers in the sector; and deepening value addition in the South African automotive sector.
