Name: Nonjabulo Zulu Studying: Apprenticeship in tool and die making Noting the country’s need for greater female representation within the manufacturing sector, especially tool and die making, Nonjabulo decided she wanted to be one of those women and undertook the apprenticeship in tool and die making. Whilst Nonjabulo’s chosen career is male dominated, she cautions women against over-analysing each move and focusing too much on competing with their male peers. Instead, Nonjabulo encourages young women to not be intimidated, having curiosity, not a technical background, is the top reason you will succeed in a technical career. Importantly, she says, “Just because you’re a woman in a technical occupation, it doesn’t mean you have something to prove.” |
