NAACAM has been conducting quarterly research into the skills landscape within the automotive component manufacturing (ACM) sector to guide the interventions of High Gear. The research is supported by the High Gear initiative funders: the UK Government’s Skills for Prosperity programme, the United States Agency for International Development (USAID), and the Michael & Susan Dell Foundation.
Recognising the importance of a consolidated skills initiative to support the needs of the ACM sector, NAACAM undertook desktop research and hosted focus groups with member CEOs and HR Managers to understand the nuances of skills development in the sector, global best practices pertaining to developing a robust and highly skilled labour market, and to identify skills interventions required to support the growth of the South African automotive component sector.
