The original equipment manufacturer (OEM) has been a long-standing champion of localisation and these awards offered the opportunity to celebrate this and the vital contribution of local suppliers towards Toyota SAโs success.
Of note were the efforts of ๐๐ฆ๐ข๐ญ๐ก๐ฌ ๐๐๐ง๐ฎ๐๐๐๐ญ๐ฎ๐ซ๐ข๐ง๐ with its Managing Director, Selvin Konar, accepting 5 supplier awards on behalf of this ๐๐๐ญ๐๐ข๐ซ ๐๐ง๐ฏ๐๐ฌ๐ญ๐ฆ๐๐ง๐ญ๐ฌ ๐๐ข๐ฆ๐ข๐ญ๐๐ subsidiary. Speaking at the event NAACAM CEO, ๐๐๐ง๐๐ข ๐๐จ๐จ๐ญ๐ก๐ข๐ฅ๐๐ฅ, applauded the achievements of component manufacturers and reaffirmed that โthe SA supplier base is ready for the transition to NEV production and committed to continuing to support OEMs in this transition. The long-term production ecosystem including industrial policy needs to ensure that high value localization opportunities in the NEV space must happen in SA to prevent the country becoming a producer of lower value components only.โ
