#WeAreNAACAM: The SATMC (South African Tyre Manufacturers Conference) held its Q3 Board Meeting in Gqeberha on 29 September. As part of the programme, the Board visited the ISUZU MOTORS SOUTH AFRICA plant in Struandale, where Isuzu’s senior management hosted a plant tour and provided a sector outlook.
Isuzu President, Billy Tom and Isuzu Senior Executives provided an overview of IMSA’s strategic outlook and stressed the collaboration required to build stronger business cases for both OEMs and Component Manufacturers.
NAACAM CEO Renai Moothilal provided a component manufacturing outlook, bringing local suppliers’ perspectives to discussions on the industry’s future, localisation and transformation.
“South Africa’s automotive industry needs a strong local supply base to sustain manufacturing and jobs. Tyre manufacturers have an important role in that value chain, and the sector must keep building the capabilities needed to compete and grow,” said Jacques Rikhotso, Chairperson of SATMC.
