| The partnership between NAACAM member company, Toyota Tsusho Africa and Ogihara Thailand, financed through Standard Bank, to launch Ogihara South Africa, is a strong reflection of the continued confidence that global industry players have in South Africa’s automotive ecosystem and its potential for growth across the value chain. NAACAM, having attended the launch and breaking ground ceremony in 2024, is pleased to see the significant progress made on the production facility and welcomes the investment into the automotive component industry and sector localisation. Speaking of the significant levels of localisation the investment has unlocked, Toyota Tsusho Africa CFO, Shaun Govender, commented “We see greater localisation as a way to strengthen our existing supply chain and enhance our capabilities in South Africa.” The R1.1 billion stamp-press manufacturing plant at Dube Tradeport will produce 101 different parts over the next 3 years, create 215 direct jobs and facilitate a skills transfer that will bolster South Africa’s industrial base. #DrivingLocalisation |
