Dunlop Tyres SA Unveils R1.7 Billion Manufacturing Equipment Investment at KZN Plant

NAACAM CEO Renai Moothilal and COO Ndu Chala joined industry and government stakeholders in uMnambithi (Ladysmith) to mark the completion of Dunlop Tyres South Africa’s R1.7 billion investment in new manufacturing equipment at its local manufacturing facility.

Speaking at the event, Minister Tau reflected on the investment and its impact on employees and the broader community, stating, “This is what we mean, in government, when we speak of localisation and inclusive growth: a payslip that reaches a household in Ladysmith rather than a shareholder overseas.”

Dunlop Tyres South Africa CEO Lubin Ozoux further highlighted, “through our support of local suppliers, contractors and service providers, the benefits of this investment ripple throughout the community, strengthening local businesses and contributing to long-term economic growth.”

Commenting on the milestone, NAACAM CEO Renai Moothilal said:

“Investments of this scale demonstrate the continued potential of South Africa’s automotive manufacturing sector. Building globally competitive local manufacturing capability is critical to deepening localisation, sustaining jobs and creating the platform for future industrial growth.”

NAACAM congratulates Dunlop Tyres South Africa and Sumitomo Rubber Industries on this significant milestone.
