NAACAM Participates in the Localisation Support Fund (LSF) Workshop

NAACAM participated in the Localisation Support Fund (LSF) Workshop – Automotive Aftermarket Components: From Evidence to Action.

NAACAM Head of Policy and Regulatory Affairs, Beth Dealtry, joined a panel discussion alongside Thomas Stevens (AITF), Tshetlhe Litheko (NAAMSA) and Dyland Jessup (EY), and moderated by Leon Naidoo (LSF), providing the automotive component manufacturer perspective on how South Africa can unlock greater localisation within the automotive aftermarket.

The workshop followed the LSF-commissioned Automotive Aftermarket Components Study and focused on moving from research to implementation, with a particular focus on high-potential aftermarket components: automotive glass, lead-acid batteries and brake pads.

“The automotive aftermarket presents a significant opportunity to deepen localisation and grow local component manufacturing. Over the medium-term, we see the AfCFTA as a critical lever for supporting this growth. In the short-term, however, to improve domestic market share of local aftermarket content manufacturers, it is critical that we work with SARS, SABS and NRCS, along with other stakeholders, to ensure the enforcement of existing product standards and trade policy.”

Following the panel, Dealtry joined NAACAM CEO Renai Moothilal and Nozipho Ngcobo, Project Manager: Supplier Upgrading, in the workshop sessions to identify practical next steps to unlock aftermarket growth and enable the LSF aftermarket roadmaps to be realised.
