Member Profile – Hudson Rubber

Hudson Rubber – The Gold Standard in Engineered Rubber

Africa’s largest producer of Rubber Products

Founded in 1959 and now owned by privately held Raecon Holdings, Hudson Rubber is Africa’s largest manufacturer of extruded rubber products. In 2016, Hudson Rubber acquired the manufacturing operations of SDV International Trading Group.

We have capacity to process more than 500 metric tonnes of rubber per month in our 5000m2 production facility in Hammanskraal. Hudson Rubber is recognised as a level 2 Broad-Based Black Economic Empowerment contributor. We are a member of NAACAM and a current participant in the ASSCCI programme.

Our customers value our technical expertise, high quality and competitive pricing, which we deliver through our local manufacturing plant.

Realizing the strategic intent to supply Original Equipment Manufacturers either as 2nd or 1st Tier is a current priority. This will also support the localisation intent by the Department of Trade and Industry and in the process create much needed local jobs and support to the economy.

Industrial Rubber Solutions

Hudson Rubber is a leading manufacturer of rubber components across industries in Southern Africa and an exporter of aftermarket automotive products to the US. Our competitive advantage comes from our ownership of our rubber manufacturing value chain. This gives us control over cost and quality, whilst enabling us to rapidly respond to changing customer needs at short notice.

With more than 300 rubber compounds for various applications, 11 000-plus different rubber shapes, and unique curing capability, Hudson Rubber is the most comprehensive industrial rubber solutions company in Africa. We comply with international standards such as ISO9001:2015 and are relentlessly committed to improving operational performance to the benefit of our customers.

Our products for the automotive sector include moulded, vulcanised rubber jointed, or glue jointed gaskets for applications such as bus windows, pipe seals, and windscreens. Hudson Rubber employs qualified rubber technologists and has an onsite laboratory for developing and testing new rubber compounds to customer specifications.

We have the capacity to run different extruded rubber profiles using different rubber materials, including EPDM, SBR, nitrile and peroxide, sponge, butyl, natural rubber, silicone, investing in TPV/R/E. Hudson Rubber also specialise in custom compounds that include colouring.

Realizing the strategic intent to supply Original Equipment Manufacturers either as 2nd or 1st Tier is a current priority. This will also support the localisation intent by the Department of Trade and Industry and in the process create much needed local jobs and support to the economy.

Our leadership team

The directors and shareholders at Hudson Rubber have extensive experience in managing large blue-chip companies, as well as deep expertise in the OEM and manufacturing operational supply sectors.

Our people and culture

Hudson Rubber seeks to deliver excellent service to our customers. To achieve this goal, we need to hire great people and help them to reach their full potential. We are also mindful of the importance of combating poverty in South Africa and have created employment for members of the local community of Hammanskraal.

We have built a team that is representative of South Africa’s demographics in terms of race, gender and age. Our goal is to be a force for good in the community that surrounds us by helping our employees to grow and to develop their skills. As a learning organisation, we are constantly striving to become better and to exceed our customers’ expectations.
