NAACAM had the privilege of hosting a high-level motor industry delegation from Zimbabwe, including representatives from government, industry associations, labour unions, and employers.
This marked the beginning of their visit aimed at gaining insight into South Africa’s automotive sector, with a focus on gaining insights to support the strengthening and reform of Zimbabwe’s own motor industry policy and industrial capabilities.
As the first stop on their programme, today’s engagement set the tone for meaningful dialogue and collaboration. Discussions centred on sharing best practices, exploring opportunities for growth, and identifying ways to stimulate increased regional production across the SADC automotive value chain.
Following on from this engagement, the Zimbabwean delegation will be meeting with multiple NAACAM member companies to investigate opportunities in component manufacturing.
NAACAM looks forward to continued engagement and to building stronger regional partnership between South African and Zimbabwe that supports an integrated, competitive, and resilient automotive industry in Southern Africa.
