From 14 – 16 April, NAACAM participated in the 4th SACU Task Team meeting on Automotive and Mineral Beneficiation sectors, hosted by the Kingdom of Lesotho and chaired by Mr. Innocent Sbu Khumalo of South Africa’s Department of Trade, Industry and Competition (the dtic).
During the meeting, the Chairperson underscored the strategic importance of these sectors in driving sustainable growth, job creation, and regional competitiveness across SACU. The meeting provided an opportunity to review progress since previous engagements and align on key priorities, including the development of the battery value chain, component manufacturing opportunities, and the Industrial Partnership Agreement.
It also featured contributions from the Industrial Development Corporation of South Africa, the International Trade Centre, and AfCFTA on advancing the automotive value chain. Emphasis was placed on accelerating preparatory work, defining SACU’s value proposition, and identifying priority projects to ensure coordinated and impactful regional collaboration. #WeAreNAACAM #DrivingLocalisation #NAACAMProud
