NAACAM CEO, Renai Moothilal, and COO, Nduduzo Chala, participated in the CHERY International Supplier and Investor Conference today at the AIDC Centre in Tshwane.
The conference brought together Chery Group, including Chery Technology, government, public sector support agencies, DFIs, associations and organised labour to explore opportunities for partnership, localisation, investment and the strengthening of South Africa’s automotive supply chain.
A highlight was the Automotive Associations Panel Discussion, which focused on building resilient local supply networks. Moothilal represented NAACAM alongside colleagues from naamsa, NUMSA and Chery SA.
Moothilal emphasised the potential that the Chery investment to onshore new technologies that Chery Tech is proving to be a global leader in. “Partnerships and localisation of NEV components and other emerging component technology is naturally suited to South Africa given its raw material and critical minerals endowment plus a supplier base that is agile and responsive to multi-platform and customer needs”
NAACAM looks forward to continuing to work with Chery SA to ensure the successful realisation of localisation within their value chain.
