NAACAM Hosts East London Regional Meeting (Q1 2026)

#WeAreNAACAM: Yesterday, NAACAM hosted the East London Regional Meeting (Q1 2026), at member company, Linde + Wiemann, bringing together members from across the East London automotive component manufacturing sector.

The purpose of the meeting was to provide members with an update on the current automotive landscape and NAACAM’s activities, as well as create a platform for meaningful engagement on sector-wide and East London specific matters requiring NAACAM’s support.

The meeting opened with remarks from Ayrton Pretorius, NAACAM East London regional chairperson. This was followed by a presentation from ITAC Chief Commissioner, Ayabonga Cawe, on the state of the SA auto component sector and key recent ITAC activities, including the inclusion of EVs under APDP2 and the ITAC-NAACAM study on the impact of US tariffs on the component sector.

ITAC’s presentation was complemented by the NAACAM report, delivered by Beth Dealtry, on NAACAM’s priority activities in the automotive policy space, as well as project updates.

NAACAM East London Vice Chair, Mihlali Sogoni, provided closing remarks, which was followed by an informative tour of the Linde Wiemann plant.

NAACAM is appreciative of all members who attended today’s engagement. Regional meetings remain a vital platform for collaboration, alignment and ensuring that the voice of our members continues to shape the future of South Africa’s automotive component industry. #WeAreNAACAM #NAACAMProud
