With Chery set to establish manufacturing operations in South Africa, NAACAM has been extensively engaging with the Chery team to support localisation opportunities and the integration of local suppliers into Chery’s value chain.
Last week, Chery Director of Strategic Planning, GR and Product, Neel Hariram, presented to the NAACAM National Executive Committee (NEC). This included a high-level discussion on Chery’s strategic production, localisation and supplier engagement plans.
This was followed by a dedicated localization session between the NAACAM team, Chery South Africa and the visiting Chery international localization and procurement division, including Steven Li and Winston Ju.
These engagements reiterate NAACAM as the focal point for OEM interaction with local suppliers, facilitating structured engagement and guiding localisation studies and tours to strengthen the country’s automotive component manufacturing base.
