13 August – NAACAM congratulates Yanfeng Plastic Omnium South Africa (YFPO) on the opening ceremony of its plant in Rosslyn, supported by Automotive Industry Development Centre. The approximate R1 billion investment and 325 jobs is a significant contributor to the local economy and community. The state-of-the-art facility has been established to supply components for the latest version of the locally manufactured BMW South Africa X3 (G45 platform).
Delivering a congratulatory message to YFPO on the momentous occasion, NAACAM CEO Renai Moothilal noted how this partnership with a global OEM like BMW resulted in employment, skills, and technology transfer in the new plant, but equally important resulted in deep localisation with lower tier suppliers to YFPO from other components plants found across the country. This underpins the vision behind SA Automotive Masterplan 2035.
